Double shiner
for my 55th bday
I’ve never had a shiner in my life. But I am currently sporting two doozies.
I fell down some stairs on my way to the bathroom in the middle of the night and was stopped by a bookshelf. I’m grateful that the shelf was made of pine rather than a harder wood. Although this was an accident, I can’t help but feel into the deeper message. The one that has been ringing loud and clear through my travels and now it seems into the beyond.
No matter how slow I think I’m moving - it is NOT SLOW ENOUGH.
This whole program of moving from worthiness being measured in how much DOING has happened to worthiness being measured in how much BEING has happened is not easy. And as so often is the case for me - I am here to embody the message for all of us. (as witnessed above)
I had big plans for this week. Obviously they weren’t the right plans and so onwards with a course correction.
There has been much sitting in the garden and listening to podcasts. Gentle walks, and honouring exactly what my body is saying to me, no matter what my brains thinks I SHOULD be accomplishing.
This guy and his mom have been offering me considerable entertainment.
Slowing down is hard for most of us. It requires tremendous safety in your nervous system to trust that you are worthy regardless of what you have done. Which is why it’s the first step in the work I do. Creating enough safety so that we can be honest with ourselves, look at the truth of what is in front of us, see clearly, and then move forward from this place. With so much avoidance in our society, for most of us this is radical thinking.
The slower we move the more present we get to be. The more present we are the more sovereign we become. We are no longer moving from auto pilot and instead choosing more.
When we consciously choose we get to create a different world than this chaos that we are currently seeing.
If you know that it’s time for you to become more REAL and ATHENTIC with yourself so that you can access more JOY and FREEDOM in your life, I’d love to have a conversation and see if working together might be a good next step for you.
No need to worry about a hard sell here - my work doesn’t support you unless you make the decision for yourself.
I’m heading out to celebrate my birthday this evening with my mom and my dad. It will be the first time I’ve had a meal with the two of them since I was a baby. They got separated when I was 3 and didn’t speak for most of my adult life. Things have recently changed in both their lives with my dad’s second wife passing and my mom’s second husband having dementia. I’m curious to experience this interaction.
Tomorrow I will be celebrating with some friends. My intention was to go dancing although I will have to see how my head feels about that as the moment arrives.
Trusting that whatever unfolds is exactly as it’s meant to be.
I’d love to hear how this idea of moving more slowly lands for you. Leave me a comment and let me know your thoughts.

Oh no, Anita! That’s not the sort of birthday magic I was sending 🤷♀️
Wishing you a speedy (in a slow deliberate way) healing ❤️
Oh lawwwwd, your poor beautiful face looks sooo sore. Over the years, I've had the universe 'literally' knocking me on my arse to pay attention, but thankfully it left my face alone 🫣. Sending all the healing and BIRTHDAY 🥳 vibes!
